- Start your GS Preparation 6 Months before the Final Exam (Probably in January 2023).
- Use
Highlighter to mark important points, phrases, formulas, etc. Read GS book
once and highlight points. Don’t read the complete book again & again. Read
1 subject in a week 2-3 hours each day and finish a maximum of 2 GS subjects in
each month. Such that you can finish 8 subjects in 4 months.
- After you read & highlight, now it’s time to Revise 2-3 Time the Highlight Points only. It doesn’t matter you can remember all points or not. Just read the highlighted points. Revise one subject in one day with questions practice.
- After each revision of GS subjects practice 50-80 questions from that GS subject. You can practice questions from PYQs or GS practice Bank of any Coaching Institute. You must do a minimum of 2-3 revisions of each subject then only attempt GS Test Series. You will see a noble performance in the test.
- And find out where you are doing mistakes in the test, revise that topic immediately. Try to improve yourself after every test.
Paper 1: General Studies & Engineering Aptitude is only to check your command on a huge syllabus. There are so many selected aspirants who got 80-100 marks in GS but still get good rank. They learn their Technical subjects strongly.
Smart Strategy to Prepare ESE General Studies & Engineering Aptitude
Toppers
Strategy for Technical Subjects
ESE Prelims Technical (Paper 2) is easier than GS (Paper 1). We
are engineers and engineers are more comfortable with Technical subjects. We
can apply concepts in any problem or do calculations easily. Thus for Technical Subjects, Toppers Preparation
Strategy will be stress-free.
- If you have joined any coaching institute (Online or Offline Course) I’ll suggest you use only your notes to learn concepts. If you are a Self-Study aspirant then you have 2 options, Printed Handwritten Notes or Reference Books. You can opt for any options but preferably go for the latest handwritten notes of any reputed coaching.
- Once you select a study source for you then trust it 100%, don’t use different study material for a single subject. Again use Highlighter to mark important things or points or formulas. If you use Reference Books then make notes from them. Your handwritten notes are more useful than a type book. Add Key Theory + Concepts + Important Result + Formulas + Units + Diagram + Charts + Constant Values etc.
- Learn each subject from basic. First, read chapter 1 then Solve some Solved Examples from reference books. Once you solve them you will understand the applications of concepts & formulas. Don’t start next chapter 2.
- Now Solve GATE & ESE objective PYQs. In your very first attempt, you can’t solve all problems. But after 2-3 revisions you will see improvement in your solving skill. The more you practice more you learn. While solving questions don’t tick (✔) the answer.
- After you finish some PYQ from chapter 1 now learn chapter 2. And repeat the same procedure till the last chapter. As you finish a subject don’t make short notes. Do at least 2-3 revisions from full notes then make short notes.
- After 10-15 days you need to revise that subject again. Devote one complete day to revise subjects completely. In that revision you have to read all those highlighted points and write formulas, it will take you 5-6 hours initially, after a few revisions it will take 2-3 hours only. After reading the theory solve some PYQ or Practice Set questions of any coaching institute.
- You have to revise each subject at least 3-4 times then start giving tests. First, give a subjects-wise test then go for a full-length test. Analyze test results and mistakes like conceptual error or silly mistakes or wrong option tick or forget formulas or forget results etc. Revise those mistakes on that day only.
If your main focus is ESE than for Prelims, you don’t need to solve ESE (Mains) conventional questions. Once you qualify Prelims than practice Subjective questions from Mains PYQ and Reference Books. But if you want to crack GATE also than practice Mains PYQ maximum 2 times. It helps you to tackle tough questions in GATE 2023.
Like that, if you prepare then you will improve your performance
daily and on the day of the exam, your confidence level will be maximum. Let’s
