Unique Pattern to Revision for Competition exams
Graduate Aptitude Test in
Engineering (GATE) and Engineering Service Examination (ESE) 2023 both exams
required lots of effort. There are a few stages during the preparation period
that every aspirant has to face. Like Learning
the Concepts, Practicing the
Questions, Revising the Subjects
& Testing the Performance. Today
I’m going to talk about Revising the Subjects.
And this Revision Strategy is not the same as the old Revision Plans that
everyone is talking about. As the competitions increases, you must change your Revision Strategy or Technique. If you revise the subjects
without a perfect plan then you might learn it for some time, but you may get
forget things after a few days or a week. Which finally gives you low confidence in
your studies.
Thus, aspirants should follow a New Revision Pattern. To retain the learned concepts or formulas for a longer time, Revise the Subjects in Correct Order.
Why do I need to Revise Subjects in the Right Pattern❓❔
When we finish a subject, we
always feel that we have remembered everything that we have learned. But as time goes on, we start forgetting things easily. Scientific research has
been done on this topic. The result of the experiment is, we start forgetting
concepts just after one day and so on.
And another case is if we revise the subject without a proper plan (as per the current competition level of exams).
Then that revision has no value, you may remember the formulas but can’t
compete with other aspirants who work hard every day smartly.
It’s my personal exam experience,
Students should follow the below Revision
Pattern for subjects to retain knowledge for a longer time. Students who mix Hard Work with Smartness,
achieve their dreams in one or two attempts in any high-level competition exams.
The Pattern of Revision ll How to Revise Subjects for Exams
Before you start revision first learn subjects from Good Study Material Smartly. Crystal Clear your concepts, without a clear concept you can’t revise perfectly. Candidates need to have a studious environment that gives them a boost to study subjects without disturbance. Now let’s discuss the Right Revision Pattern for GATE & ESE exams.
First 2-3 Revision from Full Notes
When you study any subject for the first time, there are high chances that you will miss some key points which are
important from an exam point of view. Thus first few (2-3) revisions should be done
from your Full Notes only to cover every fact which is required.
In starting, a few revisions will
take time to read or practice but as the number of revisions increases your speed
and concepts improve day by day. While revising notes also, Read Important
Results or Highlighted Key Points
and Write Formulas or Tricks. It helps your brain to hold things for a longer time.
After you go through theory, now
practice questions from Previous Year
Questions or Reference Books Unsolved
Problems or Test Series Bookmarked Question.
Try to Solve an Unattempted Question that you were not able to solve on the first try. Solve at
least 50 to 100 questions from each subject.
For the first 2-3 revisions,
dedicated 1 complete day to revise subjects and practice problems. After 2-3
revisions you can revise subjects in less time using Short Notes so that you
will be able to revise more than 2 subjects in a single day.
The Smart Way to use Short Notes
Make effective Short Notes that you can read in 3-4 hours (some subjects may take less than 1-2 hours to revise). Add only Important Results or Highlighted Key Points & Formulas or Tricks.
Whenever new points you find, add them to both, Full Notes & Short Notes
Every day when you start to study,
first go through Short Notes of anyone subject then learn new concepts. There
is no need to solve questions after you read Short Notes. Short Notes are used
to make you rote every Formulas & Results By-Heartš¤ such that you won’t forget
anything in final exams.
After every 10-15 days again revise the subject from Full Notes & solve at least 50-100 questions. Question to be solved from any one source only, PYQ or Practice Set or Reference Books or Test Series. You have to be smart while selecting, which questions you need to solve and which you can leave. You can solve unattempted questions or hard questions or numerical type questions etc.
For example, in your first revision, you solve questions from the Practice Set of reputed coaching than in the next revision solve questions from PYQ and then in the next revision solve questions from Bookmarked Test Series
Conclusion
Revision is one of the easiest processes in the journey of preparation for any
national-level exam. If you follow the above order in your Revision Style then you
will not leave any single key point from subjects and you will not forget any
topic for a longer time. Thus, your performance will definitely improve in Test
Series and Final Exam.
